Oxidation is a chemical chain reaction that causes drastic changes in certain substances that are very sensitive to oxidative degeneration, such as fatty substances. Their oxidation results in strong alterations of odor and flavor of the feed, which in turn leads to a decreased feed intake.

Using antioxidants is the most efficient way to limit oxidative degeneration. Antioxidants interfere with the oxidation processes by eliminating free radicals and reduce oxidative losses of important nutrients or functional components, such as pigments, vitamins, and essential fatty acids. Their use also prevents or reduces alterations in feed palatability.

Unfortunately, adding a single antioxidant generally doesn’t offer optimal protection against oxidation. A mixture of several antioxidants supplemented with chelate-forming products, offers a much broader protection range.

Thanks to the synergistic effect of the mixed antioxidants present in Nuprotec products, they have a clear advantage over single antioxidants.
